Coffee shop riot

While my grandmother, mother, and little sister were here, we did a little shopping.
And shopping always calls for a drink stop on the way home.
So we stopped at the coffee shop and had a little party by the fire.
We disturbed quite a few people with our giggling and chatter, but there are 6 of us girls when we're together, so we make a bit of noise and take up a bit of space.
So much fun! While we were in there, Rose finally figured out how to sign "drink" and she started saying "thank you" (dank oo)!

I am sad because these are the only pictures I took while they were here.
I wish I had one of the six of us + Grammie's two doggies all sitting on the couch together, or of us standing in line (?) at the thrift store with our discoveries, or of us pinning and cutting brides maid dresses apart to make a queen costume for my sister for the mystery dinner that she's attending this friday evening. But, unfortunately my hands were usually full and my camera not in reach. Next time I will do a better job.

I can't get over Rose's hat!! So stinking darling!

I hear you about the picture-taking situation. Sometimes I feel so guilty for missing out on shots. Other times though, you have to let go and just enjoy the moment. Don't you think? At least you'll always have those happy memories in your heart.

How adorable! I TOO love to go and have girl time, and if it includes a stop at a coffee shop..... well, I am oficially in heaven. Yes, I know I am shallow. ;)
Like the other ladies have mentioned...... I adore Sadie Rose's hat. Way too cute, but that girl is what makes it beautiful.
It was so wonderful talking to you today. I really appreciate your friendship. I even have teary eyes while writing to you and remembering the things we spoke of.
Loves to you sweetie!

How adorable is little Rose! I love her hat!! I can just picture the six of you having such the grandest of times at the little coffee shop, laughing and dancing...so sweet, Fairlight...sometimes and I am guilty of this for sure; we get so caught up in enjoying the moment, that the camera is forgotten about! Hearing you talk about is just as surreal

Thank you for your sweet comments! 
The lens I used in the majority of those shots is my canon 50mm 1.8. I love this lens, better yet, I love the price. You can't beat $85. I also shoot with the canon
24-70L lens. It is just a great all around lens.
I use photoshop CS2 for all my editing. LOVE IT!
I belong to twopeasinabucket.com's photography forum. They have plenty of good tips and when you ask a question you get a lot of helpful feedback. I also frequented betterphoto.com. There were a couple other websites that helped me as well, but as luck would have it I can't remember their names. If I remember I will let you know.
As far as getting people to relax? Well, that comes with time. Sometimes it's hard to feel comfortable yourself, especially if you're feeling nervous. Once you've become 100% comfortable with you camera and shooting in manual the rest will fall into place. Instead of worrying about whether or not you have the correct camera settings, you'll be more focused on your subjects and helping them have a good time.
I hope this helped!

PS- sorry for the novel ;)
